April DuBose, LPCA
My name is April DuBose, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate. I received my Bachelor’s degree from Clemson University in Health Promotion and Education and my Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Southern Wesleyan University. My passion is working with children and helping them learn about all the emotions that humans experience.
My goal as a counselor is to help my clients learn to cope with difficult emotions and to use their values (important people, places, things, and ideas) to power through the storm that can accompany these emotions. Each person’s mental health journey is their own, and because of this, I use an individualistic approach to counseling that focuses on what each client needs. In my approach, I combine techniques from play therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, social emotional learning, and acceptance and commitment therapy.
