Medication Management

Helping to add medication support to therapy.

Bloom is excited to offer medication management services to clients currently in therapy or who have successfully completed therapy with us.  This service is currently for clients who self-pay or have Medicaid (no MCO, Humana, Blue Choice, or Absolute Total Care), Blue Cross Blue Shield, or Aetna.

How would I benefit from adding a psychiatric nurse practitioner (NP) to my care?

A nurse practitioner is considered an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with graduate-level education who assesses, diagnoses, and treats psychiatric and mental health conditions in collaboration with therapists.

Research shows that medication management in combination with therapy often leads to better outcomes.  Nurse Practitioners are medical providers who diagnose conditions, educate about treatment options, prescribe natural supplements or medications, and evaluate medication effectiveness. Therapists focus on psychotherapy, behavioral strategies, and developing coping mechanisms. Both roles are complementary and often work together to provide comprehensive care.

Nurse Practitioner

Frequently Asked Questions

How often will I see a psychiatric nurse practitioner?

Appointments begin with a comprehensive initial evaluation for 60-90 minutes, followed by 20-30 minute follow-up appointments depending on changes since last appt and  changes to the treatment plan.

How do I know if I need medication management?

An initial,  comprehensive evaluation helps to determine specific needs and treatment options.

Does my nurse practitioner replace my therapist?

No. They work closely together and have separate functions.
