Emily Shirer, LPCA
It brings me great joy to come alongside others and help facilitate healing and growth. I believe we were created to live in connection with others and that one of the ways we connect best is through our stories. My goal is to provide a safe, comfortable environment where my clients can share their stories, experience connection, process their feelings and experiences, and gain skills to break unhelpful patterns and develop deeper connections outside of the therapy office. Using empathy and evidence-based interventions, I have worked with children, adolescents, and adults to help them achieve their therapy goals.
I received my Bachelor of Arts in Public Health with a minor in Psychology from the University of South Carolina and my Master of Arts in Counseling from Columbia International University. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. EMDR helps to change negative, unhelpful beliefs we formed through our experiences into adaptive, positive beliefs. I am also trained to integrate Christian faith into the therapeutic process if that is something my client desires.
