Becca Horney, LMFT

Being a marriage and family therapist gives me a systems outlook where I explore how each system (family, partnerships, friendships, work etc.) in my client’s lives impacts who they are and what struggles they are dealing with. My goal is to create a safe space where we, and sometimes parts of those systems, can explore these struggles openly- with empathy, respect, and no judgement. When we are dealing with anxiety, depression, or significant life changes such as family dynamic shifts, grief, moving etc. it’s easy to get caught up in unhealthy thought patterns, beliefs, and habits. Sometimes we find ourselves feeling out of control and going through the motions of life without intentionality. Together we can challenge these areas and help you to care for yourself and build healthy relationships in your life.

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family therapist and have experience and passion in working with teens and young adults. I received my undergraduate degree  from Mars Hill College in 2013. Afterwards I attended Converse College and earned my masters in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2016. During my masters program I developed skills in several modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution Focused Therapy which I often use to help my client’s achieve their goals. In addition I have received training in trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR). Psychoeducation, mindfulness, and experiential activities are also a very important part of my practice.

I look forward to meeting you and would be honored to help you through your journey of healing and growth!
